Queenswood Heights long time resident Bob Monette is seeking election as councilor in the upcoming by election on January 9,2006 for Orléans Ward.Bob Monette , 53 and his wife Patricia have three children Ron, Joanne and Richard. Queenswood Heights has been their home for 22 years. They plan to continue to live here. He is the only candidate that lives in Queenswood Heights and has lived in Orléans area for 27 years. Most of the candidates don`t live in the ward.

On July 1, 2005, Queenswood Heights resident Al Tweddle proudly attended the formal dedication of the Al Tweddle Picnic Site on Petrie Island, a fitting tribute from the Friends of Petrie Island. This non-profit organization is dedicated to ensuring that the Petrie Island group is managed in an environmentally sound manner for the enjoyment of future generations. Al Tweddle has been instrumental in the organization’s creation and rapid growth.

This was FOPI’S eighth year of operation and its first with the new beach open. The City provided lifeguards and daily maintenance. The construction of beach facilities was delayed and temporary washrooms, food concession, lifeguard office and storage was provided. Petrie Island drew people from across the region, including day camps from Rockland, Kanata and Centertown.
